JANUS - Janusz Pol-Stralkowski was born in Warsaw. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in 1979. In 1981 he came to Austria where, in 1986 he was granted Austrian citizenship. Since 1983 he is a member of the Professional Association of Austrian Artists ( Berufsvereinigung der bildenden Künstler Österreichs - bv); he established a studio - gallery in his home. The Art Gallery was opened in Dürnstein in 1989. In 1991 he was awarded a medal for his special merits to art and culture from the Government of Poland.
In his works Janusz Pol-Stralkowski focuses on humans, landscapes and musical interpretations. The range of colors from sparkling Chagall blue to glowing red-orange as well as the soft forms of his drawings, irrespective of the technique he uses (oil, water-colour, lithography) is of paramount importance to the artists. Reviewing his works from earlier periods to the present day you can recognize his tendency to syntheses and abstraction. With all the development in his art, the intrinsic strength and the beam in his works remain.
The basic question in his works is:
What are the mutual relations between people, and how do they feel and express them?
Janusz Pol-Stralkowski runs his own gallery in Dürnstein open every year from April to November.
